New Year's Resolutions
I don't usually make them. When you have enough circumstances fly beyond your control, it tends to silence the Oprah in you.
But I feel pretty comfortable with this one: I'm not matching any socks or folding any tee shirts. Both are stressful to me. I decided that it wasn't worth it after doing a million and a half loads of laundry. Everyone can do their own if they want. Josh already does. He even does right and left matching socks. That's how different we are in the laundry category. My philosophy is cold water. Everything in. A basket for sockets. A pile for tee shirts.

Evan Quote of the Day
"Candy is like medicine for your mind. It makes you feel better. Because when you're sick, your mind is sick"
Children are profound. Even when they are trying to wrangle candy from you. And when the next words out their mouths are about pirates. Dostoevsky said our healing is in the children. I don't know if anyone has said candy is healing to the mind. But plenty of people have eaten to it.

Love in the Time of Cholera
Just went you thought the vomiting was over. No. I couldn't even keep down ice chips. Plus my usual fever was almost 103. And laying in bed does nothing for arthritis except make it worse.
This is the second time in a row during Josh's vacation we've all gotten sick. I feel bad for him. He's been really great. He really has. Evan got sick last night...and I didn't have to do anything. I slept 12 hours and feel so much better.
Oh, did it bring back the memories. Some people look back on painful times with nostalgia. Which I do not. That mouth-watering queasiness...I had forgotten how bad it is and how much I never want to go through that again. No matter how stinkin' cute those babies are.
I remember hearing Joni Erickson Tada speak on time and she talked about how people would say how her wheelchair was a blessing etc...because it gave her this opportunity to speak. She would reply "I'm looking forward to the day when it will burn in hell".
